Excel NW VBC Boardmember, Steve Sorensen, and Excel 16 Black teammember, Stefani Sorensen, have a special request.

Please read Steve's email request below!

UPDATE: Steve has updated us on the process so make sure you scroll to the bottom of this page to check it out!!!

Dear Family & Friends:

I ask that you first not treat this email like the thousands of spam-types we normally receive each day. And I would ask that you consider cascading it out to all your contact lists (family, friends, church, company, teams, clubs, associations) ASAP regardless of your participation.

Here is The Sorensen family’s situation with the upcoming cancer treatment for Tammy.

(read more of our story @ http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/tamrasorensen)

We need stem cells soon.

The current US stem cell registry is about 7M out of 303M Americans.

2% sucks and we need more citizens to sign up.

Before I first learned a few months ago we need a donor stem cell transplant for Tammy’s best process option to rid her body of this horrible disease, I thought it was something the repubs and demos argued about for religious reasons. Once you need them, you become quite educated. And you never know when you might need them.

Many of you have approached me on how you can help our fight beyond prayer and here's a very tangible way for you to help not only Tammy & my family but also the rest of mankind.

The first is by cascading this email forward.

Next I ask you to consider clicking on the following link to the National Marrow Donor Program and sign up to be a donor.

Keep in mind the way people are “typed” for their stem cell code is via a Q-Tip swab to your own cheek.

For a short time (first 10,000 to sign up) what normally is $52 is free. I think it is a shame that there is a cost barrier on this registry, but for now it appears underfunded. The NMDP has a Mother’s Day Drive getting ready to launch 12:01 a.m. on May 5. You can click on the following link to enroll for free:

http://www.marrow.org/HELP/Join_the_Donor_Registry/Join_Now_Special/TM/tm08_join_now.html

This is one small thing we can all do to leave the trail behind Tammy & our family a little better than we found it. We hope you will take this opportunity to act quickly while the access is free and help make a difference.

Note:  To send this as en email just copy the text and paste to your outging email.  It's that simple.

Update from Excel NW Boardmember Steve Sorensen:

First, thank you all so much for taking the steps to get stem cell typed. I ordered my swab kit Monday and received it last night. (4 days!)

I want to clear up a possible misunderstanding about the process. All you have to do is click on this link, http://www.marrow.org/HELP/Join_the_Donor_Registry/Join_Now_Special/TM/tm08_join_now.html

fill out the online questionnaire and the NMDP will mail you the swab kit for you to self-administer swabbing your cheek. You do not need to go anywhere except your own mailbox. It is that easy and FREE right now for a limited time.

SWABBING TIP: Do not do it after drinking coffee or any staining liquid.

Since my email from this last Monday, well over 600 of you have visited Tammy’s website. We so appreciate your inspiring comments so please sign our guestbook.

I will get some updates next week on our progress towards finding a donor. Please visit our website for the news. You can click the option to be automatically notified when we update this website.

Again, thank you all so much for doing this.

You could save a life!

Our love to you all,

Steve & Tammy
